Every passing day makes it obvious that the present state of crisis will not end till President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani resigned. Both have presumably become a grave threat to the rule of law and the national security. The defiance of the Supreme Court's verdicts, Memogate saga and the recent allegations against the Army chief and the DG, ISI for having violated the law and the constitution are good enough reasons to lead the judiciary and the military to their conclusions.

There is no threat to democracy as such. The rest of the structure including the parliament will remain intact. Next general elections will be held on time but ONLY after the requisite electoral reforms are carried out to ensure free and fair elections and weed out corrupt elements from the electoral process.

The coalition partners as well as the Opposition are NOT likely to support the president and the prime minister and help them stay in power under the current circumstances.  The choice is now between continuation of democracy or the continuation of the president and the prime minister.
